Suffolk Residents Invited to Vote for New Car Club Vehicle Names

Sustainable Suffolk is calling on residents across the county to help choose the final names for Suffolk’s fleet of electric Car Club vehicles, with public voting open from 30 March to 13 April 2026.

Earlier this month, people from across Suffolk submitted witty, clever and wonderfully imaginative name ideas for the 18 zero‑emission Car Club vehicles located in nine communities. A judging panel has now shortlisted the best suggestions, and it’s over to the public to decide the winners.

Residents can cast their votes at https://forms.office.com/e/jUb5rAa8B0 and help pick the top two names for each Car Club location. From charming choices to cheeky contenders, creativity has certainly been on full display.

Where the Vehicles Are Located

Each Car Club site has two electric vehicles, designed to give local communities easy access to affordable, low‑emission transport. Locations include:

  • Ann Street, Ipswich
  • Norfolk Road, Ipswich
  • Cannon Street, Bury St Edmunds
  • Castle Street, Woodbridge
  • Crown Street, Stowmarket
  • Girling Street Car Park, Sudbury
  • Granary Road, Newmarket
  • Maiden Way Car Park, Hadleigh
  • Station Yard Car Park, Needham Market

The winning names will be announced on 15 April 2026, and the residents behind the top choice for each vehicle will each receive £25 in free driving credit to use with the Car Club, along with the pride of seeing their chosen name printed on the side of the car.

About the Car Club

Suffolk’s Car Club project provides 18 electric community vehicles available to book by the hour or day, helping reduce car ownership costs, cut carbon emissions, and ease parking pressure in busy areas. The scheme supports sustainable travel by offering accessible, zero‑emission alternatives for local journeys.

Have Your Say

Whether you favour the sensible or the silly, the clever or the delightfully eccentric, now is your chance to shape the future of Suffolk’s electric fleet.
