Homes from hemp: a more sustainable...For years, we’ve been supporting small and medium businesses to lower their impact on the environment and become more efficient through projects such as the Carbon Charter. Now, a group of large businesses in Suffolk are joining the movement.
newsHelping them on their way are the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, the University of Suffolk and Groundwork East, who, thanks to funding from Suffolk’s public sector organisations, are leading the High Energy Users’ Network.
Larger businesses, particularly those in the food manufacturing sector, face many challenges when it comes to lowering their emissions. They often have higher emissions and energy costs than many small businesses put together.

But thanks to the High Energy Users’ Network, the major Suffolk businesses looking to reduce their carbon emissions can work with the University of Suffolk to identify innovative new solutions to reduce emissions and energy costs.
What’s more, the funding can also be used by Groundwork East to lower the carbon footprint of the supply chain by helping the smaller businesses that supply the large companies.
By coming together as a network, businesses can share best practices and learn from each other to create a more sustainable Suffolk.
