Help name Suffolk’s Car Club vehicles

Residents across Suffolk are being invited to put their creativity to the test by helping name their local Car Club vehicles — with free driving credit up for grabs.

Car Clubs is a project that has placed 18 electric community vehicles across Suffolk. Residents can book the zero‑emission vehicles by the hour or day, helping reduce car ownership costs, cut carbon emissions, and decrease parking congestion.

The cars can be found in the following locations:

  • Ann Street, Ipswich
  • Cannon Street, Bury St Edmunds
  • Castle Street, Woodbridge
  • Crown Street, Stowmarket
  • Girling Street Car Park, Sudbury
  • Granary Road, Newmarket
  • Maiden Way Car Park, Hadleigh
  • Norfolk Road, Ipswich
  • Station Yard Car Park, Needham Market

From 9–22 March 2026, Sustainable Suffolk is calling on the public to submit fun, memorable or imaginative name ideas for the fleet of Car Club vehicles located across the county. Entries can be submitted through the online form at https://bit.ly/name-the-cars, where full details of the Car Club scheme can also be found.

A judging panel will shortlist the best suggestions, before the final names go to a public vote from 30 March–13 April.

Each Car Club location has two vehicles, and the two most popular names in each area will be crowned winners on 15 April 2026 – meaning 18 winners in total. Each winning entrant will receive £25 of free driving credit to use with the Suffolk Car Club and see their name printed on the car.

So, if you’ve got a brilliant idea, from the witty to the wonderfully bizarre, now’s the time to get involved.

Submit your ideas between 9–22 March and help name Suffolk’s Car Club vehicles!
