Topping up to stay cool

Did you know that having thicker loft insulation helps to keep your house cool in the summer months? But that’s not the only benefit. Find out how loft insulation can benefit you and how to get it half-price this summer.

Getting or topping up your loft insulation is a win-win-win scenario:

Wellbeing win – loft insulation keeps your home at a more comfortable temperature

On a summer’s day, your loft can reach 40 degrees Celsius. Thicker roof insulation means that it’s more effective at keeping your house cool. On a winter’s day, thicker insulation can help keep the heat generated in your home from escaping into the cold, keeping your home cosy.

Wallet win – thicker insulation means a thicker wallet

A non-insulated home can lose up to a quarter of its heat through its loft. This means you could be paying to generate heat in your home that’s literally flying right out the roof. A cooler home in summer also means less need to use fans and air conditioning. Both saves you money on your energy bills!

Environment win – comfy home, healthy planet

If you don’t need to generate as much heat, it means you use less fuel and therefore lower your impact on the environment.

To help those who need to insulate their loft for the first time as well as those who need to top up their insulation, the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership run the Loft Insulation Offer which gives people in Suffolk half-price eco-friendly loft insulation.

Last autumn, the second year of the project launched. Has it been a success so far? We think so. Since October 2024…

Over 1,000 rolls of insulation have been purchased by Suffolk residents.

Over 3,000 metres squared of roof area in Suffolk has been insulated.

The average Suffolk customer saved £151.89 on insulation but will save more on their energy bills!

The Loft Insulation Offer will run until the pot of funding is depleted so order your insulation soon to have them cover half the bill.
