Suffolk Sustainable Schools Network

According to the Carbon Trust, schools account for 2% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions. We have launched the Suffolk Sustainable Schools Network to make that 0%.

news

What does the network do?

Through our brand-new network, school leaders and teachers will be supported to create a climate action plan for their entire school for free. This is something that the Department for Education require all schools to have by 2025. The plan will focus on four areas:

   Decarbonisation

   Adaptation & resilience

   Biodiversity

   Climate education & green careers

There is also plenty of opportunity to learn from and network with other schools’ staff and teachers. Join over half of all Suffolk secondary schools that have already signed up!

Join The Network

Why join?

Sustainability is a school-wide issue and therefore all school staff, both operational and curriculum-based, are welcome to become a member of the network. Members will receive the following:

  • Half-termly newsletter & network meetings
  • Guidance for climate action planning
  • Funded opportunities including free energy audits and carbon literacy
  • School sustainability resources
  • Signposting to advice & funding
  • Support for whole school initiatives

If you would like to hear more about SUSSN, please contact Rebecca Elston-Haynes, Schools Sustainability Lead, at sussn@suffolk.gov.uk

Our support for primary schools is still in development but please register your interest for our primary project – Our Schools, Our World.
